Founded in 1986 and certified as a Living Heritage Company, Le Parapluie de Cherbourg stands out thanks to its unique expertise. Entirely handcrafted by seven skilled manufacturers, its products are designed to be flawless and offer zero defects. Quality control at every stage and the use of high-quality materials have elevated these French umbrellas to the ranks of luxury products. With leather finishes and gold hardware, refinement knows no bounds. Seduced by this artisanal expertise and tailor-made products, high-end fashion brands have adopted our made-in-France umbrellas. Luxury brands such as LVMH and Richemont offer several models for men and women.
Various types of precious wood, solid carbon or fiber ribs depending on the model, silky fabrics... at the factory, the materials of our French umbrellas are carefully chosen. The cane, for its strength and its light veil of natural varnish, will improve over time. Each chestnut handle is made by a craftsman from his isolated plantation in the mountains - he cuts, smokes and varnishes each branch of wood... The hornbeam handle comes from the Jura. The canvas is made from a polyester fabric, selected for its silky feel and resistance to rain. The shaft, made of beech or metal, ensures great strength. The carbon steel ribs fight valiantly against the wind. As for the more flexible fiberglass ribs, they withstand gusts of 155 km/h without splitting.
The Cherbourg Umbrella Factory is recognized as a Living Heritage Company. This label demonstrates the company's commitment to local development.
Awarded by the French government according to specific criteria, it rewards small and medium-sized businesses for their renowned craftsmanship and "validates" French manufacturing and its excellence.
