From the very beginning, Le Parapluie de Cherbourg has championed a demanding vision of French manufacturing: producing durable, repairable umbrellas designed to last. Today, in the face of environmental and societal challenges, our company is further strengthening its commitment by structuring its CSR approach around the ISO 26000 standard. This approach has been recognized by AFNOR Certification, which confirmed our CSR commitment in 2024 with a very positive result of level 2 out of 4 in the ISO 26000 assessment.
This recognition validates the actions we carry out daily around several essential pillars:
As a Living Heritage Company, we place Made in France, quality, and the transmission of know-how at the heart of our business. Our commitment is also reflected in our strong involvement in local networks and our support for social, solidarity, and environmental initiatives.
We promote a human resources policy based on versatility, learning, inclusion, and career transition. Apprentices, interns, and employees thrive in an environment where manager accessibility and open communication are paramount.
The durability of our products is an integral part of our CSR approach. Our umbrellas are designed to be robust and repairable in order to encourage more responsible consumption.
We have also implemented a policy aimed at reducing waste and maximizing the value of materials, particularly through the reuse of fabric scraps in derivative products. Our company also supports several reforestation projects.
Faced with the climate challenge, it was important for our company to take a further step by carrying out our greenhouse gas emissions assessment as part of the Diag Décarbon'Action scheme, supported by Bpifrance, in partnership with ADEME and the Association for Low Carbon Transition, with the support of Carbon Matters.
This study allowed us to precisely measure our carbon footprint for the fiscal year 2024–2025: 733 tCO₂e.
As with many manufacturing companies, the bulk of our impact lies beyond our walls: Freight and product distribution, Purchasing and Energy.
This analysis provides an essential basis for building a concrete and measurable reduction trajectory.
To accelerate our low-carbon transition, we are committed to several key actions:
