Is there such a thing as an umbrella for two?
Are you over 1.80 meters tall? In case of a downpour or storm, a large umbrella will effectively protect your clothes, as well as the belongings you're carrying (a briefcase, handbag, or luggage). Its generous canopy helps keep you dry in all weather conditions.
The larger the canopy of an umbrella, the longer its ribs. To withstand strong winds, the frame of a large umbrella must be extremely robust. That's why the frames of our largest umbrellas are made of fiberglass, galvanized steel, or carbon steel. We wind tunnel test our products, guaranteeing their resistance to strong winds.
How to make sure an umbrella is wind resistant?
When crafting your large umbrella for women or men, we use high-quality materials. The wood of the handle, the metal of the frame, and the fabric of the canopy are all selected for their wind resistance. Each Cherbourg Umbrella is handmade in our Normandy workshop. Our small team of artisans checks every detail and ensures the sturdiness of your large umbrella.
Here are our largest umbrella models: le Golf and le Palace. Both measure 127 cm in diameter and 102 cm in height. The frames of the Golf and the Palace are made of wind-resistant metals: galvanized steel (for the shaft) and carbon steel (for the ribs). In wind tunnel tests, these large umbrellas withstood winds of up to 138 km/h. You can take them everywhere for your outdoor activities.
Le Golf boasts a modern design, with its straight, light-colored beechwood handle. Le Palace is more classic, featuring a curved rattan handle. Both have a large taffeta sail and fittings with engraved rings and a ruthenium finish.
Le Sport and le Pébroque , along with le Golf and le Palace , are among our largest umbrellas.
Le Pébroque is the most urban and luxurious of our large umbrellas. It's a men's model, but you can also use it as a large women's umbrella. Ten colors are available, from ecru to black, including red and beige. The curved chestnut handle adds a touch of elegance to a smart outfit.
Le Sport is more like the Golf umbrella, with its sturdy galvanized steel shaft. Unlike the Golf, le Sport features fiberglass ribs. Thanks to this material, this large, wind-resistant umbrella can withstand gusts of up to 140 km/h in a wind tunnel. An automatic opening mechanism allows you to unfold it in the blink of an eye.
