Created in 1986, labeled Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, Le Parapluie de Cherbourg is distinguished thanks to a unique know-how. Completely designed by 7 versions by 7 versatile manufacturers, its products of excellence aim at zero fault, zero defect. A controlled quality at each stage and noble materials raised these French umbrellas among luxury products. Leather finishes, gold overlapping, refinement has no limit. Seduced by this artisanal know-how and this tailor-made, high-end fashion brands have adopted our made in France umbrellas. Thus, luxury houses like LVMH or Richemont offer several men and women models.
Different species of precious wood, full carbon whales or fiber depending on the models, silky fabrics ... at the manufacture, the materials of our French umbrellas are carefully chosen. The rush, for its resistance and its slight veil of natural varnish, will improve in time. Each chestnut handle is made by a craftsman from its isolated plantation in the mountains - it cuts, smokes and varies each wooden branch ... The charming handle comes from the Jura. The canvas is worked from a polyester fabric, selected for its silky touch and its resistance to rain. The mast, designed in beech or metal, ensures great solidity. Carbon steel whales are valiantly fighting against the wind. As for the more flexible fiberglass whales, they support gusts at 155km/h without splitting.
The Cherbourg Umbrella Manufacture is recognized by the Living Heritage Enterprise label. This label testifies to the commitment made by the company at the local level.
Assigned by the French State according to specific criteria, it rewards small and medium-sized enterprises for their renowned craft know-how. And "validates" French manufacturing and its excellence.
